chesapeake to caribbean in March ... via bermude or direct route

Hello,
Our 42 Hallberg Rassy is on hard in Chesapeake Bay now and we are planning to take her to Caribbean late March 2020. Is it to early to expect decent passage? Would you recommend to go via Bermudes or a direct passage towards St. Martin. Assuming we go south east to 65 longitude and then south we don't gain much distance but loose a stopover and visit to a new country.
We have brought her from Grenada to US last year but have not done longer open ocean passages yet.

Thanks any advice would be welcome.
