I will be relocating my boat from the BVI to Cartagena during the hurricane season. I am a local in Cartagena if any of you guys are planning to go below the hurricane belt and need local know how please contact me I will be glad to help in any way I can.

I am here at this fancy marina at the BVI and even this is one of the best sailing waters around the globe, the human being component makes me feel like departing as soon as feasible and now we have all the "big shots" arriving to participate in the Rolex Regatta...buah

I will not be going there this year but plan to use Cartegena for 2010 hurricane season. What will you be doing with your boat? Hard, marina, mooring?

Jim, there are various options in Cartagena all of them cheap: Club Nautico, Club de Pesca and Club Nautico Mooring.

My boat will be staying for a couple of months within the colombian navy facilities where they will haul her out for complete refitting, I am entitled to this as an ex-cadet of the training sailing ship "GLORIA"

JC, Looking forward to meeting you. We will be sailing back to our home in La Paz, BCS, Mexico this year and expect to spend hurricane season in Venezula or Columbia. It will be great to meet you in Cartagena, I know I am bias but ask and you will see that you cannot compare Cartagena with any port in Venezuela, PM me and I will be happy to give you my cell phone there, it will be back on the air on June once we arrive from the BVI.

Last but not least, the easiest way to get a colombian pissed is to call our country COLUMBIA (mispelled) it is COLOMBIA and I invite you to let me show you Cartagena as a local

What a nice picture on top of Castillo de San Felipe with the proud colombian flag on the background, where did you guys stayed? Club Nautico or Club de Pesca?

Hope you enjoyed every single bit of the city of Cartagena situated in a bay in the Caribbean Sea, Cartagena has the most extensive fortifications in South America. A system of zones divides the city into three neighbourhoods: San Pedro, with the cathedral and many Andalusian-style palaces; San Diego, where merchants and the middle class lived; and Gethsemani, the 'popular quarter'. Cartagena was declared by UNESCO a World's Heritage city.

We were anchored, in front of club Nautico. I think the guide we hired for the tour of the Fort called himself "Duran Duran". Nice fellow, teacher and good enough with English language.
