Sorry. 080 means true wind
direction from 80 degrees. A little N of E. The point here is that to make the Mona Passage
comfortably from your starting point, most cruisers would not want to do that with apparent wind
forward of the beam too much. Apparent wind is what the boat feels - the vector sum of the true wind speed/direction + the boat speed/direction. It's a comfort thing. For short distances this can be tolerated, even enjoyed, but for long distances it becomes a chore.
