Sorry. 080 means true wind direction from 80 degrees. A little N of E. The point here is that to make the Mona Passage comfortably from your starting point, most cruisers would not want to do that with apparent wind forward of the beam too much. Apparent wind is what the boat feels - the vector sum of the true wind speed/direction + the boat speed/direction. It's a comfort thing. For short distances this can be tolerated, even enjoyed, but for long distances it becomes a chore.

2hulls is talking about wind direction. Any wind north of due east is going to be tough. In April the northers should not be getting as far south as the latitudes of the Bahamas. Nevertheless, Mona passage can be quite challenging at any time. Better have a sound boat and blue water experienced sailors with you.
