Cape Verde to Natal: November '09

we would like to take this route as we are sailing for to years and have plenty of time...then head towards miami the next 18 months:-)
still,i feel that its not many boats doing this route??
any special reason??
we are sailing a hanse 470e and leaving cape verde in start nov..

if there are nay "magic" spots on the way up,tell us,please:-)

Did the same route in March, easy passage, can´t see that November would be much different other than the itcz may be further north. I did direct from Praia, Santiago (if you anchor there have an anchor watch or you WILL get robbed). Easy passage, downwind all the way to equator (start of itcz in March) then wind got flukey. Friend on another boat had blown his starter motor so sailled all the way. Fernando Do Noronia is popular stop off but V expensive even just to anchor, apparently you can check into Brazil there now as well. Didn´t rate Natal very much, 35 Reals a day to anchor off the yacht club and use their showers. Jacare, up the river from Cabedelo is much nicer, 60 reals for a week for showers and right now I´m on their wifi at anchor. Passage from Natal to here against wind and current. Checking in easy in Cabadelo (as it was in Natal, just takes a while). Hope this helps, ask if you want any further info.
