Cancun Anchorage?

Anyone have any recent reports of anchoring off Cancun?

My mom is visiting us in Isla and we're considering sailing her across the bay and staying the night off Cancun. Is this possible? A good idea (safety, comfort, dinghy dock, etc?)

We could not find anything so we just anchored off the beach about 100yards. . It would have been OK to take the dinghy ashore. There are 2 marinas but the locals have them filled up and there is no chance of getting a slip or anchoring inside. The wx was good for us. I reacall anchoring south of the smaller basin about 1/2 mile.
