Canary Islands - Clearing In when Anchored

Hi Folks.

I hope you are all well.

I heard somewhere and would like confirmation:

NON-EU cruisers do not need to clear into the EU (Spain) when arriving in the Canary Islands from NON-EU countries UNTILL they go into a marina.

Is that right?

And would 2 weeks at anchor before clearing in be acceptable?


Obviously the question needs to be answered by someone with specific knowledge and not a link to Noonsite

You would be better off clearing in at a common port of entry and then anchoring. In theory entering and stayin territorial waters is not considered innocent passage and hence you should clear in.

However in my experience, if you just anchor there for 2 weeks ( you mean never to come ashore). The authorities proably will not bother you.
