The departure taxes
are for flying out and using a ferry
, when departing using a boat the departure fees
are minimal - I think I paid $0.25 or so for the form and that was it last time.
When you check into St. John the whole crew must appear personally at customs
and immigration. I have to anchor
way out as my draft
is too deep for the little anchorage area reserved for anchoring
during the clearing process. Optionally you can go around the corner and take a mooring
at Caneel Bay but only if you have a good dinghy
Remember that all people aboard must be US citizens or LPR or, if not, must hold a valid US visa as the visa-waiver-program that Europeans and others use to fly into the USA is not valid when entering by boat.
