Brazos Santiago Pass Inlet ( South Pedre Island, Texas)

Anyone with draft anchor inside this inlet? We only see one anchorage for this area for deep draft of 4.6 feet ( this is shallow draft area!!) active captain puts it just north of the channel, but it looks very exposed for a november anchorage. We were thinking of meeting some family down there for thanksgiving, they are in a condo on the South Island so trying to get as close to them as possible.
Thanks
Erika

Re: Brazos Santiago Pass Inlet ( South Pedre Island, Texas)

I haven't anchored there (Barracuda Cove), but looks good if there isn't a front blowing through at the time. If it's out of the north, maybe move to the other side of the channel? I know, 5' might be a bit skinny. Also, you could move up towards Sea Ranch. Maybe pull in by R2 (north of the boat ramp). Looks like plenty of 7' water in that area. The kicker will be - if it's out of the NW, like normal during cold fronts in Texas.

Worst case, check with Sea Ranch Marina to see if they have any transient slips available. I know...who want's to pay slip fees?

Thanksgiving, yummy turkey and dressing! We haven't had that for three years, and so looking forward to it.

Good Luck!

Ralph

Re: Brazos Santiago Pass Inlet ( South Pedre Island, Texas)

thanks RTB, that was what we were thinking, I think serendipity Marina in Palacious is owned by these folks at sea ranch. Anyways, just a lot of skinny water with not a lot of places to run except out to the gulf, and who want to do that with a northern bearing down😄. You know of anything else nearby? The condo is a couple miles north, up the island from the inlet. I didn't see any anchorages north of them, at least that wasn't in two feet of water.
Thanks

You're right. All I see is skinny water.
