Boatyard Near ICW in South Carolina

I have recently bought a Liberty 49 which is located inland in North Carolina. It needs quite a bit of work some of which I shall do myself and some will need professional attention. The work will need to be done between now and next March after which I want to undertake a shakedown cruise prior to an Atlantic crossing to the Mediterranean where I live. Can anyone recommend a boatyard near the ICW in South Carolina with adequate road access, and able to replace standing rigging before stepping the mast? I want to be able to live aboard for a couple of weeks before launching too.

Cheers,

Mike

Mike, Most yards are not going to let you live aboard on the hard but while the boat is in the water may be different. One possibility where they are a little more understanding is Marsh Harbor Marina near Beaufort, SC. Another possibility is Ross Marina, just south of Charleston. Chuck

We are having a wonderful experience at Deaton's in Oriental, North Carolina. No problem about living aboard, great work, reasonable rates. Great town that took a hit from Irene. Deaton's protected our boat throughout the storm. About to re-rig the whole boat, unrelated to the storm but related to bad wire from a job a couple of years ago by a different yard.

I'd also recommend Marsh Harbor on Ladys Island near Beaufort SC. Pleased with the work done on my boat. Ask for Sam.

Dolphin Cove in Charleston, SC might be considered.

Right across the creek from Deaton in Oriental, NC is Sailcraft. They allow it too.

+1 for Sailcraft. I have a couple of friends living on the hard there right now. Having some bottom work done and a re-rig. Had the boat pulled and mast down in about two hours from start.
