Hoo-wee! Never done it in December but I think you're begging for trouble that time of year. Cold fronts are a regular occurrence and they can be quite ferocious. If you can get reefed down and don't mind running with a big swell, who knows, you might like it.

Other than that, your post didn't indicate whether you want a direct route or one with multiple stops. Either way, North Atlantic and Caribbean pilot charts for December suggest you can essentially sail directly there, either avoiding the Bahamas totally by leaving them to starboard, or stopping there as often as you wish. You will be running against a mild (<1 kt) current.

Thanks Pete I was planning on a direct route with no stops your info was helpful. So I do not have to East before heading south just southeast the whole way? If so after crossing the stream doesn't sound too bad. Thanks again

There's no sure answer, because the weather is unpredictable, but the Pilot Charts show historical winds primarily from the NW early in your trip, clocking ENE/NE late in the trip. So that time of year, no, the traditional easting to 60W does not appear to necessary. Good luck! Pete

Crossing the Stream with a northerly component to the wind is always interesting.
