Re: Best ICW Guide?

We use active captain on our Mac with PolarView. With that, no internet connection is needed to have all of their info. There are a bunch of other products that have all the data available without internet too.

I got tired of buying guidebooks that were never updated or were really just advertising. I now came across a new anchorages book at last weekend's show which just copied active captain on paper but with less than 10% of the data for each anchorage! What kind of idiot would buy that when active captain is free?

Thanks for the great input everyone. We are already ActiveCaptain fans and maybe that will suffice for the guide.

The tough decision is the nearly $1,000 investment in paper charts when we already have three different electronic charting systems.

Re: Best ICW Guide?

Graham, if you decide you want paper charts, the previously mentioned chart books are probably the best value. If you want the most up to date charts, those printed by Ocean Grafix are the best choice. They don't print them until you order them and they include all corrections up to that date. If you decide on the Ocean Grafix charts, I'd love the opportunity to quote you on them.

Kettlewell flip charts for ICW and Explorer charts are a must for the Bahamas.
