Best Cruising Guide for South Caribbean

What are the cruising guides you like for BVI and south as well as the carribean coat of Columbia and Panama? Thanks!! Arjan

We used the Pavlidis guides in the Caribbena but they were OK at best - seemed dated. Would like to try out a Doyle guide to see what it is like. Can't help you for Colombia but (only?) guide to Panama is by Bauhaus and it is excellent

Thank you very mujch for your reply! One follow-up: outdated when it comes to onshore facilities or also when ity comes to entering harbors/anchorages etc? I just bought the bauhaus guide, thnx!!

Chris Doyle's guides are the best for the Leewards and Windwards. Nancy Scott's is good for the Virgin Islands. Plug this phrase into Google and you'll see a number of articles on cruising Colombia...

I found Pavlidis to be OK for the water stuff but not up-to-date about the land side. I don't want to say they are bad, more like they are mediocre. The editions we had (most recent, can't remember the pub dates) should have shown significant changes on land that were old enough that they should be in the book.

I certainly can understand the problem of cruising guides. It is very, very hard for the author(s) to visit all the places before a new edition is done.

Also you can look at Active Captain. There were a number of entries two years ago and more were being added (I know I put some in).
