Bareboat from Grenada to BVI

We are chartering a 38" Cat and doing a one-way from Grenada to BVI in 4 weeks in May/early June. Is it realistic while still getting to enjoy the islands? Any advice or suggestions for must sees along the way would be greatly appreciated!

We did the opposite last Jan N to S....Antigua to St Vincent....3/4 of your trip in 16 days. 4 weeks should be fine with still some time to enjoy, but quite a bit of sailing. We left friends in St Vincent who took 6 months to get to the BVI's, but they were crusing.

Must see's?...from Grenada north....
Palm Island....Tobago Cays.....Bequia...Duvernette off Young Island in St Vincent (see pic)...spend a day in Dominica-check out the falls, both Titou & Trafalgar...make time for Iles de Saintes....Antigua.

I skipped plenty, but that's what making your own memories is for!

Two MUST stops for you at two completely different places.

Isles des Saintes for the nicest, most civilised, place in the Leewards and Windwards. Lovely combination of upmarket France and the Caribbean.

Montserrat for a beautiful, friendly island with an amazing display of natures power. Anchorage can be uncomfortable for a monohull but that is worth putting up with.

There are many other really nice stops but these - in my opinion - the highlights. I've done the texact same trip you are planning on several occasions over the last 10 years.

You definitely must see Tobago Keys (not far from Palm Island and Canouan) and Iles des Saintes (not far from Guadeloupe). There are some other islands worth visiting, but these two are a must see picture post cards. Enjoy!

I wouldn't do that trip in 4 weeks. Not for a vacation. Sure, it could be done, but you wouldn't get enough time in any area. There's soooo much to see, yet you'd just see it for a bit an have to move on.

And to keep to a schedule, you might have to spend a far amount of time sailing in conditions you otherwise might not want to.

We were in St. Lucia on our boat for 8 days in November. We went from St. Lucia down the the Tobago Cays and back. Very doable in a week, but we could have easily spent 2 weeks without going any further, spending a couple of days in each location, doing more land exploration..etc. 3 weeks or more if we had hit all the other islands in that same area that we skipped.

If you really want to see if you'll enjoy it, try to put together an itinerary.

Not intending to hijack the thread, but if anyone else is interested in doing a similar Grenada to BVI bareboat, please let me know (via PM, so we don't hijack this thread).

My boat is en route to Grenada this winter and will be available there by about mid March if anyone wants to take it for 2-3 months before hurricane season kicks in. You could cruise from there as far north as you want - St. Maarten? Antigua? BVI? Even Bahamas or Florida if you're really keen.
