There are so many companies to choose from that you'd have to narrow down your search quite a bit in order to get any useful answers. Are you looking for large or small, new or "experienced" or a budget cat? What time of year?

Thanks for your reply. We have 2 couples. Going last week of March.
I was thinking air would be nice. My wife is always hot. ThT being said on a ball with the genie running isn't peaceful. We thought we would spend 3-4k?

Txs

Lots more choice in the BVI. I might be able to get you a cat with a/c but it'll be the very top end of your budget as March is still high season. Send me a PM or email (I'm a boat owner, not a broker)

Try CYOA Yacht Charters in St.Thomas. They are located in the USVI. makes getting to your boat easier. Then you are just a short sale to the BVIs! I used to work for this company. They are a smaller charter company that takes a lot of pride in there boats.

Thank you, I have sent them a email and I am waiting their reply. It does seem nice to be able to cab to the boat from airport. However BVI seems more interesting. We went to St Thomas last year and sent a lot of time and $ going somewhere else . It was very busy.

I second the recommendation for using CYOA. Their boats show regular upkeep and maintenance. They also conduct a thorough orientation and systems review before sailing...invaluable if you've not used that particular vessel before. A+

The great thing you do not need to spend much time in STT. Get the boat and provision and you are on your way!! Also gives you a chance to explore ST.John.

Good Luck!!

Re: Bareboat Cats - USVI or BVI

I feel that St Thomas is a much easier place to get to and from by air direct from the USA. You don't need to worry about connections and missing the connection from Tortola back to STT or SJU.
- - I also have the opinion that the charter outfits in USVI are more economical and try harder to please you.
- - For a week's charter, there is a lot of places to visit and experience in the USVI that tend to get missed by those "hurrying" over to the BVI's. For instance, there is a fabulous place called Coral World with fish, sharks and presentations on the northeast side of St Thomas. You can even anchor in Water Bay and dinghy in to visit the place.
- - Then there is fabulous "away from it all" places like Little Hans Lollik; Lovango &
Congo Cay for swimming, snorkeling and see great underwater sites.
- - St John's could suck up a week easy. My favorite is Hawksnest Bay with a great snorkel experience from inside to out around the point.
- - IMHO, the BVI's are just much to see in a week of sailing without skipping so many places and/or hurrying from one to the other.
