i've ended up with money i won't be able to use also. i usually row around the harbour and ask boats if they'll swap; always found somebody going the other way.

Hopefully you are still in the Bahamas. turn them in at any bank for US dollars. You will lose big time if you can even exchange them in the DR.

Changing US to DR is hard enough (not really), I travel there almost every month for business, definitely not worth the try.
