Bahamas Check-In

We only have a short time but still want to make it to the Bahamas... we plan to only go to the Berry Islands and hang out but would like to check in somewhere on Grand Bahama mainly because it would be a 24 hour run from Vero Beach to Ft. Pierce, outside to approx. Lake Worth and over.
The weather is improving and time between fronts is getting longer, a 36 hour window should be easy to come by...
So with that said, where would you check in? West End @ Old Bahama Bay? Port Lucaya?

This is our first time over and since we've been through we recent death as well as various other frustration, we just want to get there and check in and swim.

What's your suggestion?

Since you want to go to the Berries .... Why not just check in at Great Harbor or Chubb Cay? I don't think I would check in at West End just because of the cost and the fact that there is noting there!

From where you're coming from and with limited time...why not just go to Port Lucaya and stay there? The marinas are nice...there is shopping and best of all you can just walk across the road and you are on a beautiful sandy beach with nice water.

No big deal really.

Here is a form. Don't take this with you as it will most likely not be accepted but will have info on what to bring. Passports of course and about $ 350 cash.

There has been some cut back in passport control. If you want to clear at someplace other than West End or the bigger cities, call the marinas to see if you can.

Pets, Not to bad but I have heard comming back to the USA is much harder.
