Bahamas BTC Contracts

Looking for information on the shortest period contracts that BTC offers. I know they offer prepaid but they charge a lot for data in the prepaid vs. the post paid contracts.

Re: Bahamas BTC Contracts

I was able to purchase $30 pre-paid cards for $15 each at a BTC store earlier this year. $30 is good for 2GB data. I bought 8 of those cards for use this winter.

I don't find that expensive, even at $30 for 2GB.

Re: Bahamas BTC Contracts

When I obtained a postpaid account in 2013, I was told 1 year minimum committment.

Sent from an undisclosed location on the high seas or from the lounge chair by the pool, you decide.

The data cards go on sale quite once or twice a season. And when they do all the cruisers know. $15 for 2 gigs vs the normal $30.

If you need 14 GB and a reliable connection staying at home is the answer. It is not uncommon for BTC internet to be down a few times in a week. Sometimes for short periods, sometimes longer. Last spring the whole of the Bahamas was down for most of a day.

Re: Bahamas BTC Contracts

Oh that is OK. I have a lot of data going back and forth but my time is mostly at my discretion. We experience the same interrupts in the BVI but my bandwidth is better than what I got back in Virginia.

It just happens that the app I am working with right now is a data hog.. sends lots of unnecessary data back and forth. At the advise of a fellow cruiser that did similar stuff last year, we are going to set up a virtual machine.

The coms expense is not that big of a deal either, its get paid for, but I have to be reimbursed... this can take months sometimes.

Wait till they see my flights!

If its really that much cheaper for a contract, it may be cheaper to just get a contract, even if I am not going to use it for the whole year.
