We've chartered in the BVI and the Abacos - love them both! You'll want to get a copy of Dodge's Cruising Guide to Abaco
and watch your depth
. The sailing isn't any more challenging but the navigation
is a little more difficult.
There's less nightlife and beach bar activity in Abaco
versus the BVI. We tend to eat more meals
on board, and it's possible to have an anchorage all to yourselves. But that adds to the adventure! Elbow
Cay and Guana have lots to offer both adults and kids
. The kids might also like Tilloo Banks, south of Elbow
Cay. It's a large sandbar and great swimming spot. Further south is the Pelican Cay Land and Sea Park if you're into snorkeling. And Little Harbor is another nice overnight spot if you go down that far.
