Anything interesting in the chesepeake over the winter?

My boat is getting hauled out at Maryland Marina this week for some work. I hope to be back in the water in late april and heading north (Canada) for the summer. Probably back to the chesepeake next winter to work for a year or two and save for a bigger boat.

Anyway. Just wondering if there's anything cool (literally) sailing wise for the winter? Frostbiting or big boat racing or events? I'll hopefully be doing work all winter. Could use a hand on occasion and would trade if you need some too.

Also if anyone knows of a shop space I might build a new dinghy and some tanks but most likely will not be able to where I'm living.
