Any Comments on North/South Yacht Charters out of Tortola?

My wife and I are planning a bareboat trip out of Tortola in Feb/March. Has anyone had good or bad experiences chartering bareboats from North/South Yacht Charters?

Thanks.

Thumbs down Re: Any Comments on North/South Yacht Charters out of Tortola?

We chartered with North/South in the BVIs ins October 1993. After that experience we crossed them off our list. We had problems with the boat (a 36' CS Merlin - "PEPPER") nearly every day. They did respond to our repair calls nearly every day - lots of wasted time. We chartered with another "second tier" charter company (Trade Wind Yachts) in the BVIs in October 1994. They are now out of business. That boat (a 43' Beneteau Moorings "EDEN") was loaded with cockroaches. After those 2 disaster trips we chartered with Sunsail four more times and have been happy.
If you only have a short amount of time for a sailing vacation, I would not choose North/South - in fact, I was surprised that they are still in business.

If you want a great 2nd tier company, try BVI Yacht Charters. They've been around forever, and are wonderful to deal with.

I came back to edit this - 'cause the above looks kind of like a backhanded compliment:

We choose BVI Yacht Charters over the "1st tier" companies - Good boats, great, personal service.

I too have nothing but good things to say about BVI Yacht Charters. I've been very happy with both the boats and service.
