Re: Another Gulf Stream Thread

The weather is improving a lot over the next few days and there is no reason why one must go Friday. Leaving late Saturday gives 12 to 15 knots on the nose, either sailing or motoring that's lovely as a gentle lets go for a cruise sort of stuff.

The other question is why West End? It's a half way point to nowhere when the weather looks great to get anywhere.
Nassau as gateway to the south, or up the NP channel, or over the top for the Abacos, this next few days looks terrific to get to any.

Unless of course your destination is West End... And then that's fine

Anyway, have fun. I will be at sea too.

I'll second Pete33258, run down to Lauderdale and take off fron there. You will be fine in SE winds. Say hi when you pass by GTC

Re: Another Gulf Stream Thread

Unfortunately I had to jump ship before we could cross. My folks are going to jump over early tomorrow morning. I'm in LA now soon to cross the Rockies and to engineer/tour manage a rock band's tour of the Mid West. Then maybe I'll fly in to the Bahamas and get back on board.

Can anyone offer advice on a Rockies crossing in a 12 passenger Dodge Van with 30 knot NW winds, snow, and 5 drunk rock musicians? I'm bound for Chicago from LA. Will the Dodge be able to handle the steep inclines? Will my crew mutiny?

Re: Another Gulf Stream Thread

I wouldn't cross with winds out of any north quadrant.

Give them a good dose of dramamine or even benadryl. There will be no mutinies. Nor anyone to talk to.
