Re: 7ft keel, biscayne bay = shady business

Well I'm making up for lost time at least... Had to go all the way up and out of biscayne channel. At least the winds are behind me

7ft keel, biscayne bay = shady business

You did exactly what I did, and I only draw 5', I went back all the way to stiltsville

Skinny water at high tide scares me, how do you get off when you run aground on a very high tide?

The Hawk Channel is some of the best sailing I have ever done. Love it.

When we went aground, I didn't have a dingy yet. Had thought I'd kedge off with the anchor, then thought carrying said anchor might be difficult in water depth just over my head . Thought well, I'll float the anchor on life preservers, about that time something large and dark went under the bow. (water wasn't clear at all) turned out to be a Dolphin, but could have been a sand or Bull shark. Needless to say, I changed my mind about the anchor.
Took at least an hour working throttle to get off, Capt. I hired thought his skill at the helm got us off, I think it was the tide. Either way, left a considerable amount of bottom paint, on the bottom that day.
Ain't life grand? Wish I was there now
