Re: Western Med Itinerary

Its a few years since we left the Med, but if you prefer anchoring:

Palma de Mallorca is fabulous but there are few anchoring opportunities anywhere near. Andratx perhaps and a bus ride. There are still some places to anchor in the Balearics.

Corsica - Bastia and Bonifacio

Sardinia - particularly the Madellenas and southern Sardinia.

Italian islands - Elba/Ischia/Ponza/Aeolian/Lipari islands

Sicily - Syracusa, a great base from which to explore

Malta/Gozo - very different culture

Marinas are always expensive, particularly in the Balearics/French Riviera/Sardinia/mainland Italy and everywhere will be packed in July and August.

Keep an eye on the weather, it can be very variable, with frequent Tramontana's and Mistrale's, particularly if you are anywhere near the north coasts of Menorca and Corsica.
