Volvo experienced and qualified mechanic in Cyprus

I have just spoken to the previous owner about getting my saildrive / leg re-conditioned (new bearings and seals) and he has assured me its a job for a trained mechanic due to the tolerences. I have a Z280 and its very noisy - has not been overhauled for quite a while.

I was wondering if anybody had a personal experience with overhauling their saildrive/leg ? So far , most of my exposure to the local mechanics/engineers has been less than satisfactory.

Hi Kris,

We are back in Cyprus now after sale of our Yacht. We do feel for you as this can be a problem where you are at the moment.

There are MANY volvo mechanics in Limasol-not much use to you I suppose. Have you been to the Paphos and tried. Look up Paphos People web site join it and place a request on there. There is also the Paphos Sailing Club-look them up on the web site.

Thanks Peter - I am leaving for SA Friday but will be back early March - my concern is the warranty - if I get the agents to do it (who were advertising for a mechanic ?)

In the water at the moment , but will be hauling out in March.

Where are you in Cyprus ?
