Re: Visit to Israel

No Israel is not a cheap country.

Ashkelon Marina is considerably cheaper than Herzilya and Tel Aviv marinas. (Eilat Marina is the cheapest in Israel and that's one of the reasons that we are here )

But Cyprus will always be the cheapest. Larnaca marina is the cheapest marina is the Med.

Eilat is great for diving.

Re: Visit to Israel

Well this took awhile, but yesterday we visited Ashkelon Marina on some business and popped into the office to ask for visitor mooring fees.

We received a quote of 45 Israeli Shekels per square meter per month. Space available. The secretary also noted that the marina manager would be willing to be flexible on that price and that visiting yachts should contact them in advance for a quote.

(we got the feeling that the longer you stay the cheaper it would get.)

Re: Visit to Israel

It is a difficult call about telling the world about a well priced marina. You run the risk of it becoming popular and before you know it there goes the cheap rates. Just selfishly saying.

Re: Visit to Israel

We sailed from Crete to Israel and stayed at Herzilya Marina. It is a modern marina and very comfortable there, especially with the outdoor concerts once a week and beaches right next to the marina. We stayed 3 weeks in the marina and also visited places throughout Israel and Palestine.

The sail from Crete was easy as it is mostly downwind and took 4 days. Sailing back to Marmaris, Turkey was quite a beat and took about 12 hours longer.

I would highly recommend sailing to Israel to visit a fascinating country.

I hope this helps.
