Two old Pappy's for a week out of Athens

I'm taking my father, mother, and father in law for 8 days on Palarran next year. They are flying in and out of Athens and I'm thinking we will have them meet us at Lavrion. Both Dad's are 81 and in medium shape for their age, my mom is in good to great shape.

Can anyone suggest where I should take them? I'm currently thinking up to Skiathos, Skopelos, and the east side of Evia. It is hard (but not impossible) for my father to get on and off our tender so it would be best to have a good spot on a quay. The best is to be able to go side too but I know that will be difficult to find. He doesn't mind hanging on the boat for a day or two but I'd like to get him off as much as possible.

Another option I've thought about is down to Hydra, Spetses, and Navplion. Or, maybe Kea, Kythnos, Serifos, and Milos.

Re: Two old Pappy's for a week out of Athens

If you go up the SW coast of Evia and the channel between the island and the mainland there's a nice quay at Marmaris... couple more before you get to Kharis and the bridge there... wait till you get through... usually around 11pm before they'll open then tie up on the other side... restaurants on your doorstep and an interesting town to explore for a couple of days... lots more quays and quiet anchorages along the way till you get to the N end and along the mainland to Platania... lovely place.. and a jump of to the islands which are a National Park..
Down side... you'll see very few sail boats... may have to motor a bit and make sure you carry spending cash... stock up at Kharis... at Platania for example I had to bum a ride 35kms inland to the nearest cash point..

Thanks Phil that's some good info. It does add 75 nm onto the trip though. It would be 350 nm round and in 8 full days. My son and I can always pull some all nighters though. I like it because it would be pretty sheltered for the guys. Also, maybe I can find a spot on the east side to rent a car and return the guys back to the airport via a car.

Palarran, I commend you. I so wish I had the opportunity to take my father sailing. He started as a 8 yr old cabin boy in 1909, sailing out of British Guiana. He crossed the bar in 1968, before I was in the position to afford sailing boats.
