Today its impossible unless you sit mid-Atlantic..
All this violence is in IN YOUR HOME.. how can you feel safe.. its psychological warfare and its working.. for the terrorists and the viewing figures..
It worked in the city centres abandoned to the baddies after dark.. 'No Dear.. lets not go into the cantre.. there were 3 muggings last w/end..' so you give it away..

I tried to find argument with what you posted but can't.

Now on the birth control issue what country water supplies should we be lacing with birth control drugs?

Re: Tunisia 8 hostages murdered.

Unfortunately 2 Australians were amongst the dead. We travel so much that despite our small population, we always seem to lose a few when there are events like this (and plane crashes.

However, I doubt that it will make Australians less likely to travel to Tunsia or anywhere else for that matter, we go to Bali in higher numbers than ever despite 88 being killed in one terrorist attack in 2002.

My thoughts are with all the families of the dead.

Why not let Darwinism be the ultimate birth control. Starvation has a great way of limiting population growth. Perhaps we should also stop all forms of safety net programs as these seem to allow for overbreeding. Not to mention wasting resources on free health care on people which only adds to the population plague.

I am of course only joking to prove a point. It certainly is a slippery ethical slope when we devalue the worth of life in order to protect the environment from human overpopulation. But I do think that indiscriminate baby production by people who expect to be supported by "society" is not good as well. How you solve this is an issue that I don't have the answers for either intellectually or morally.

Best thing to do is to go boating and enjoy the open waters. On this I am sure we both can agree.

I work a lot in China and have traveled there off and on since the early 90's, they went from complete dictatorship to a socialist hybrid with a capitalist economy, it's still a work in progress but it works for the transition they're going thorugh . The party is still firmly in control and controls the media completely so they have a powerful influence over public opinion which is intentional to keep things calm here and tamp down unrest but they too have had their issues with ethnic unrest. It's a human thing, not just confined to one or two religions/cultures. There's always someone who wants everyone else to live to their dictates, whether religious, economic or idealogic.
In the US we let the politicians yammer on about it while everyone else goes about living their lives, it makes for full time entertainment.
If I didn't go everywhere they claim is dangerous I'd never be able to leave the house, never mind go cruising on a boat. Oh my, isn't that dangerous!?
Like has been said previously, go where you want to, just be prudent and aware of your surroundings, there are many places in my own country I wouldn't go to blindly.
By the way, China has been relaxing the one child policy, it was put in place at a time when their farm production could not keep pace with their population growth, mainly due to government decreed farming prcatices.
Unfortunately an entire generation either had one child or none, the ratio of men to women is out of whack with there being more men than women which creates a strange dynamic with a large number of single men with no hope of ever marrying, mostly in the underclass (poor). Hmmmm....sounds like a breeding ground for unrest.
Ain't no perfect place, they keep putting humans in it and then everything goes to hell. (just joking)

Really?!? China as a placid paradise?

The definition of 'riot' is usually made by the authorities.

if we talk about public protests against local governments and Party offices in China, the average number of protests a year in the past decade has been 80,000+. Usually more in summer than in winter.

Add in the number of protests in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Wikipedia has a page about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protes...ssent_in_China

Naivette. Ostrich like behaviour. Cast one's fate to the wind. Imprudence. Wanton ignorance. So what? I worked hard to prepare for this, I'm going anyway... Odds are...

On and on.

They're rioting over the Birth control in Hong Kong... I thought it was peaceful protest against the cutback in promises of Freedom of who they chose to Elect as promised as opposed to the pre-selected Candidates presented by the Party...
Damn... Learn something new every day..
Although I am aware there's a booming Trade for the Middle/Upper classes in flying to the States to have a baby for the US citizenship.. and bypass the law which I believe specifies 'In China'...

"Working in China" : Ask the Uygur (Weegers) of Xinjiang (especially around Urumqi) or the poor souls of Xizang (Tibet) or the fine folks in and around Hohhot.. Ask anyone besides those that are part of the" machinae supreme" in China if things are working and if they are not to frightened to talk I believe you will find out that things are not working for 99.9% of the people...

indeed, perhaps the solution might be to dismantle the nonsense of the sykes -picot agreement that just divided up the ottoman empire to suit the then great powers, get the West out of Middle _Eastern politics and warmongering and I think the situation would arrive at a balance quickly enough

The more we intervene the more we prolong these conflicts

new states will arise from this thats sure
