Strongest antifouling for North Sea (Waddenzee) any recommendations?

Hi everybody,

I moved last summer from the Baltic sea to the North Sea coast of the Netherlands.

A new bottom paint is due.
Hull is epoxy coated plywood. previous UW paint was soft of unknown variety.
Will sand thoroughly before new application.

Boat is a 35ft cruising catamaran.
Can anyone recommend which antifouling works best in these waters?

I l'd prefer if I need to haul her again in two years. In the Baltics that was feasible.

Any pointers?

Thanks. Franziska

Priorities in order of importancy

1)Longevity + protection
2)Price
3)Environmental friendliness

Jotun Seaqueen is a favorite on England's east coast.

Hi. I've used MIcron CSC in the Great lakes(Fresh water) All around Ireland The North Sea and in the Norwegian Sea. Other than touch ups the last paint job was 4 years ago! The one prior to that lasted 6 years. I have a base coat of green and then 3 layers of red when I see the green I just touch it up. Mind you we are always moving so fouling has to catch us!

I also think Micron CSC is a topnotch cool salt water and mixed waters anti-fouling, good for 2 seasons in our weather, which includes a tidal river system with higher fouling.

I keep my boat in Northern Brittany (south part of the Channel). As the water is rather cool, and sunlight is sparse in winter, I use the cheapest self-polishing brand I can find, namely the one sold by SVB
SEATEC - Antifouling STANDARD from 55,90 ‚ | SVB GmbH
A single coating, a bit thicker than the norm (i.e. I cover less than 12,7 m per liter, about 10 m)
Done every year.
A hard version (Sprint) is also available
Only a thin band just below the waterline is fouled after a season, plus a very soft slimey covering elsewhere.

the best in North sea, is Seajet 034. but you need what is best for local cond. look at the boats , and ask the local what they use.

Ask the local fisherman what they use. Probably a the best combination of price and effectiveness ...

Hi.Decided for Hempel Olympic 85961 from a commercial source. It is used locally for slow coastal freighters here and mentions speeds up to 12kn with medium long resting periods. 10liter for 290 is not terribly bad either. Will do two coats and report back in a year how it performed 😀
