Shore line

I need to buy a line for securing the stern ashore when at hanging off an anchor. (not Med style mooring - free anchoring in bays)

How long is your shore line and what diameter? My vessel is a Lagoon 450 - approx 18T loaded.

Cruising the Med, all areas.

Hello Anthony,
I would suggest getting two lines. If $ are limited, get one large, and one smaller, but two are best. It's also best to get floating rope but it's not mandatory. You can tie fenders to the line to let other boaters know where they are.

To answer your question though, my floating line is 1/2" and about 150'. This is the first rope we swim in with. My second is actually our stern anchor line, which is 5/8" x 100' and has 10' of chain spliced to it. We take this in with the dingy.

Crazy side load pressures develop when wind and waves hit you abeam.
