Sail from Port Leucate to Marmaris

Hey there!

A few friends and I will take delivery of my new Jeanneau 57 from Port Leucate in France Mid June and sail it back to Marmaris.

Since we're not in hurry the plan is to to stop by in Cote D'Azur, Corsica, Sardegna, visit Lipari Islands, Sicilia, cross to Zakinthos, Corinth, visit seveal Aegean Islands and back to Marmaris.

I'll appreciate any tips on places to visit (or pass) on this route, what not to miss, any potential problems?

Any input on food and night life en-route would also be welcome

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a great trip. You could do worse than visit the World Cruising and Sailing Wiki (see link at top of the page) if you're not familiar with it. Most of the ports and islands you're likely to visit en route are covered and the entries for many of them are more up to date than you'll find in any pilot book. If you're transiting the Corinth Canal, plan your route carefully: Corinth harbour itself is a dump and you're better off overnighting in Galaxidhi or even the commercial harbour of Kiato before transiting. If you register for the Wiki, you could even update some of the harbour pages as you go - then future cruisers won't have to ask the same question!

Lipari is beatiful but I don't think you can enter the small fish harbour with yr 57..We did it with our 44 cat but in December and with a lot of arguments with fishermen's boats..
Don't miss Catania on the west end of Sicily. Out of the marina walk along the antique walls to yr left and at the very end there is a small fish restaurant at the entrance of fish market. That's the best in the Med at very reasonable prices run by a family..
If the wind is OK, the north of Crete (Xania, Ritminos and Agio Nicholas) is beatiful ,in this season and the marinas almost free.. (Skip Iraklio, the worst place in the Med)
You can then make various islands on yr way to Marmaris, Karpatos, Halki and Rhodes if you like.
Cheers
