Safe Mooring Spot in Venice ?

We're looking to leave our yacht (Oyster 435 - draft 1.83 metres) somewhere in the neighbourhood of Venice in order to fly home for the month of August next year. Do any forum members know of a good, safe spot that isn't eye-wateringly expensive?

Re: SAFE MOORING SPOT IN VENICE?

It would be good to know if such a spot existed, but it sounds like wishful thinking.

Check out this site: http://www.sail-the-net.com/marinas/...as-veneto.html Not very helpful, but gives a list of marinas in the greater great Venice area.

Re: SAFE MOORING SPOT IN VENICE?

Assume you are referring to Venice Italy and not Venice Florida.

Have you checked noonsite? They have a very long list of marinas in Venice (Italy) but unfortunately not much detail on each one or the rates. It does at least give you a starting point.

Noonsite: Venice

Re: SAFE MOORING SPOT IN VENICE?

August is the month that most Italians take their vacations, so a fair number of the local boats are out cruising. We anchored out, but friends were able to find berths pretty easily.

Re: Safe Mooring Spot in Venice ?

Thanks for the suggestions to date. I'm familiar with most of the marina offerings in the lagoon of Venice (I compiled the Venice and Venice Lagoon sections on the World Cruising Wiki, albeit from internet research). I was really hoping that someone might have direct experience of some of the less well known offerings in the area, e.g. Lignano and Grado lagoons, which are more out of the way but still accessible from Marco Polo airport. Any additional suggestions still welcomed.
