Recommendations for Berthing In Helsinki

We've stayed at the yacht club on Lauttasaari, for free, but the limit is two nights. I need to spend about a week there. Where to stay? There are at least 15 marinas around HelsinkI, and hard get an overview. Grateful for any tips.

Re: Recommendations for Berthing In Helsinki

We're in the lovely and convenient HSK club on Lauttaasari, but will need to move in a couple of days. No one has any insight about the 15 (!) marinas and guest harbors in Helsinki?

Re: Recommendations for Berthing In Helsinki

Hi Dockhead, I used to live about 1 km from the Lauttasaari Marina. Unfortunately no boating experience around Helsinki. Here's a link to a boating guide published by the city, scroll down for English http://www.hel.fi/static/liv/2013/veneopasfiswen.pdf.

Suomenlinna is mentioned in the guide. Suomenlinna marina's website is here [URL="http://www.valimo.org/vierassatama/"], says 20t boats maximum, which could be a problem for you? Best maybe to call in advance to make sure you fit, harbourmaster gsm: +358-41 510 1060. Docking is 27 eur/day, including electricity. Suomelinna is an old fortress island a 10min ferry ride from Helsinki city center. It's a really nice and interesting neighborhood with lots of history. If I ever take our boat to Helsinki, will probably stay there.

Katajanokka is right next to Suomenlinna, on the mainland, you can walk to the center. Don't know pricing, but probably a lot more expensive. Boat size here will not be a problem and you can get a berth alongside the dock if you like. Here's a link with coordinates and harbormaster phone http://www.vierassatamat.fi/index.ph...satama-id=7411
Hope someone with more experience there can chime in. Heading for Turku anytime soon?
