The Mandal route takes you under a brigde with only 18meters, so its not for taler masts.
Just outside Mandal.
And befor you get to Lillesand there is one more Brigde that is 19meters high.

The bridge clearance is actually 19 m,so with the right tide and a loaded boat,your Lagoon 38 with an 18 m mast clearance should clear the bridge. However,any prudent mariner always checks bridge clearance and safe draughts when planning his route.

When living in Kristiansand,I sailed this route countless times and there are also other attractive alternatives.

Just to prove a point,have a look at the attached charts from CM93 and Det Norske Kartverket where the clearing heigh of the Skjærnøy bridge is 19 m.

Well, Tore, we will have to check this one up a bit more,
but it has to be nexst summer.

But anyone sailing in Norway have to make sure that they do go under cabels hanging or Bridges crossing over.

Hi Tore. was able to download Maddal to Arendal kmz. no problem. However cannot download Bergen- Trondheim kmz. also both gpx files just come through as numbers and letters. Thanks for your help Noel

The .gpx files must be imported into OCPN using the Route Manager.

Bergen-Trondheim.kmz downlods fine here. Could you try again

if i klick on the link it will not work but if i copy the line an paste it in, it works. i get to download then dobbelklikk on the file and it will start up GE. and the route is there.

you have a lot more nice seneries inf you go the route closer to the costline., but there are many ways to go along the way up north.

Should not make any difference but please try downloading here from a new library I set up for popular tracks and routes around he world.

Yes,I agree,the Bergen-Trondheim route could have been more scenic closer to the coast but sometimes the time does not allow too many detours.
