Passage from Med to Maldives

Hi,

I am looking for passage from the mediterreran to the Maldives or Sri Lanka. We would like to do this in August 2007.

We will be flying back soo it is a one way passage.

If you have any suggestions I am open.

Sorry about the cold water...

The normal way for cruising yachts is from east to west.
i.e. Mediteranean -> Caribbean -> Pacific Islands -> NZ/Oz -> Thailand -> Mediterean. I believe this is called the milk run, as the prevailing winds generally blow this way.

Unless you are planning on going the long way round there will be few yachts going the way you want.

The Maldives is not a major cruising destination.

I would expect that many yachts would be reluctant to take the responsibility for what sounds to be an unknown untrained and inexperienced adult with two children.

I trust other forum members will correct me if I am wrong.

Why have you posted this so many times? One is sufficient. All you are doing is clogging up the forum.

I’ve deleted the redundant postings.
Here’s hoping you locate a ride, Althor.

I agree with Chris31415 . . .

. . . so if you are flying one way, and want to sail the other, why not fly to Sri Lanka and cruise back in the more usual direction?

Chris is right about the Maldives, as well. Not much of a cruising destination. They are beautiful, to be sure, but you can't "island-hop" there like you're in the Bahamas.

If you subscribe to the global-warming theory, and you really want to see the Maldives, then you had best go sooner, rather than later!
