Mozzies
Hi all,
We have the unfortunate invasion of the dreaded MOZZIES "!
We light the special candles and have a plug in gadget that is supposecd to keep them at bay.
So anyone coming to KARPAZ GATE MARINA bring anti mozzie cream etc with you.
Peter

Re: Mozzies
Only real effective and comfortable method of keeping mosquitos at bay is screening and netting. Warm air, the carbon dioxide that you exhale and your skin heat will attract them when they are in force. You can put one DEET which works to keep them from biting yet may feel oily.
The devices advertised to repel them are a scam. In fact, those that emit ultrasonic waves actually attract the females (the males don't bite) and drive them crazy.

Vitamin B tablets may be worth a try, some studies say it does not work, but I always used them in west africa and never had problems with the mossies

Re: Mozzies
Glad they are over by that wall and not out here on our dock! We haven't had any mosquitoes yet this spring. But are seeing a lot of tiny flies the past few days. You could probably just open all your hatches and side ports and the winds blowing so hard today should blow all those mozzies away.

Hmm,( Well Judy we shall endeavor to send some to you.) Any way it seems that they do not like us here after all and have disapeared. Perhaps they have come over to you now?

Re: Mozzies
Living in a swamp in a sub tropical area known for mosquitoes has taught me 2 very important things.
1) The only truly effective measures are:
DEET
Gas huffing mosquito traps
Special suits
Netting/screens
2) Everything else doesn't really work. Might give the illusion of working but in a hungry marsh, you're toast.
