More Weather Advice Please

Hi Folks.

We are heading from Fethyie, south western Turkey to The Dardanelles.

Toworrow, Wednesday there is an unusual Southerly wind forecest till Saturday morning.

I am not used to the weather in this area (the Med!) and would like your advice as it appears a tad unusual.

It appears to be a 'safe' weather window.

Is there anything I am not understanding / knowing about this change?

Thanks for your thoughts

We want to go as soon as the change starts for 325 miles north west.

Mark

Mark--

FWIW Passage Weather seems to indicate southeasterly winds through Friday although Wednesday you're likely to see little wind in the straits north of Rhodes. You might want to have a look at PassageWeather - Sailing Weather - Marine Weather Forecasts for Sailors and Adventurers . We have found the projections reasonably accurate, at least over the last 24 months or so.

Hi !
I appreciate a lot "Poseidon system" as meteo forecast for Aegean sea. The link is :
Poseidon System
You have a lot of good shelters along the way to The Dardanelles.
I had southerlies in april 2 years ago, a strong Sirocco for 3 days and high temperature (35° C) in Kusadasi. The week after it was 18° and the usual moderate northerlies of this season.
The most important to know is the fact you can have very strong gusts between the islands ans the coast, you can have 2 Beaufort more in 5 minutes. So you have to be ready (for example : Cos/Turkey, Samos/ Turkey, Chios/Turkey, etc...).

Thanks Guys,
Thankls for the websites.
Jacques, I wondered about the wind channeling between the islands and the main land.
I will keep an eye on it as theres a number of quite narrown bits!

It looks like a wed 9am go, and a bit of wind by midday, Saturday landing.

Not nearly as much wind as they were forcasting a day or so ago... May been to swim a bit....

Thanks for your help
