Mooring Near La Spezia, Italy

I've just bought a large Cat (60ft) in Italy, near La Spazia, and I am looking for somewhere to moor her from the end of Feb until mid April when I plan to start bringing her back to the UK. I have been offered one spot on a pontoon for 40 euros per night, but this seems very expensive for a 'winter' berth. Anyone aware of any cheaper options. Thanks, Paul

You've got the Italian Riviera to the North (Rapallo, St Margharita and Porto Fino) pretty expensive if you're not staying on board. What about trying further south - a berth on the River Arno, upstream from Marina di Pisa. There are a string of private quays with basic facilities along the lower Arno. Worth investigating?

You could try Livorno. You get constant wash from the ferries and the harbor smells like the cruise ships empty their tanks there - but it's generally secure and their's a public and private birthing option. Due to the the proximity of the commercial port to the marina it isn't as popular with local birthing over the winter period so you might be in luck! It's only half a day's sail from La Spezia but not as pretty as Portofino!

That seems reasonable value to me for that area. The Arno will not be cheaper, but Livorno might well be.
