Marina in Northern Cyprus

Anyone familiar with the new marina being built in Northern Cyprus? I think the name is Karpaz Gate Marina. Wondering what stage of construction it is in now. And what travel connections are available (probably through Turkey) -- via either ferry or air flights to get to major cities for international air travel.

We are also one of the lucky boats being given 12 months free berthing. Hence my question as to how complete the marina is at this time. The website doesn't show actual photos of the marina, just renderings.

Our yacht is being shipped from Maldives and should arrive Marmaris in April. After an overdue haul-out we will head to the new marina in Northern Cyprus. Thanks for the link on travel possibilities.

Free Annual Berth -Karpaz Gate Marina

I am also a lucky winner of a free annual berth.

Having read the Welcome Pack, Terms & Conditions and Booking Form I have just emailed the Marina as there are a few questions I would like answered before proceeding, so will let you know how I get on.

Looking forward to the report by Dale after his visit to the marina later this week.

All very exciting!!

Time is running out

Well, I haven't had a response to my questions and soon my 10 day limit to sign up for the offer for a free berth expires.

Just as I posted this I received the following email from Karpaz Gate Marina

I am glad to assist you with all your queries, please note as follows:

· at the moment the only possibility to extend the 90 day is to go out and come back again. Going to the South should be considered as a departure and therefore upon return the 90 days permit will be renewed. We are in the process of changing the local regulations in order to adopt similar solutions that are known in Turkey.

· No extra charges in TRNC because of the UK flag.

· The marina will do its best to assist and find transports for all the guests.

· Electricity and water will be available upon arrival.

· There will be other guests that will be living on board their boats.

· All public area in our marina will be “ no smoking area”.

· A market and laundry facilities are in our plan. If not available since the beginning, our team will do its best to satisfy all requests.

Hope this answers a few questions.

Re: Marina in Northern Cyprus

rivonia -- We have accepted the offer and plan to arrive at the marina later in the summer. May is just too early for us as we must be in Greece in June thru mid-August. We spent 9 months in 2010 in a new marina in Malaysia and know not to expect immediately all the amenities usually present in a luxury marina. As long as there is electricity, water and some form of transportation to get to markets, we will be happy in the TRNC new marina.

To be able to just go into Southern Cyprus for a day or 2 to restart the 90-day visa is good news.

Re: Marina in Northern Cyprus

well hello to all i have just spent two days 5/3/11 to 6/3/11 at karpaz bay marina and it is far from finished i was not able to get right down to the marina as it is a total construction site whilst they have started to put pontoons in there is no power etc there the marina offices are far off from being completed for those who want i will send a couple of pics that i took and whilst the karpaz web site shows a spic and span marina i think it will be another 12 months before its like that and personally i dont think marina will be ready to be able to accept boats until july august this yr in some form

I don't think it will take up to July, they would probably be finished 'til May. We had the same construction site at Cesme last year, and they were offering berths with electricity and water in May.

We too are so lucky as to have been accepted. I have filled out and returned the form but they also want me to send 100 Euros for a deposit on my utility uses. Anyone else sent the 100 Euros?
They are still telling me it will be open in May.
