I Need to Haulout - Corinth / Patras area ?

I need to make a small repair to my saildrive and find a weeping leak + new antifoul on my 12m Catamaran

Any suggestions for a do-it-yourself yard that wont be too expensive ?

Kris

Do you know Messolonghi? It costs less than other Marinas and the last time I was there I could do the work by myself.
I know that some boats have fallen to the ground to a design error of the cradles, I hope that they have changed, beware, the marina did not have insurance at the moment!

But you own a catamaran, so no problem for your cradle, be careful with those of your neighbors.

Messolonghi has a very bad reputation as hauling out is concerned and friends who had their boat there last year told me it was very difficult to work on his own boat.
Nice spot though...

Got a quote from Messalonghi that made my eyes water...
Am currently in Galaxidi waiting on a weather break... will be heading to Patras and was considering Preveza as an alternative - the haulout is not urgent.

If you 'll go to Preveza can not go wrong.
Aktio Marina is the cheapest of the three shipyards, and you can certainly do the work by yourself.

Kris, did your eyes water from the Messolonghi quote because it was 1/2 of everyone else?

My cat is there and fairly large. They had no trouble hauling it out. If you are only looking for a yard for haul out and self repair, it would be hard to believe anyone can come close to their price.

They crane out with spreader bars etc or do they have a travel lift? Certainly if they can handle the size of your boat ours would be of no issue?

Re: I Need to Haulout - Corinth / Patras area ?

Kris, it is interesting that they would be double Cyprus. I contacted Karpaz to get a quote for haul-out, land storage, and launch and the price made me cry. 13,000 euro for 9 months. Cleopatra is 9,000 euro. Messolonghi is 4,500 euro.

Lagoon, they use a 160 ton crane with two spreader bars. I've had Palarran hauled three times and this was quite possibably the easiest. The crane crew was very good at making sure the sling was positioned perfectly. For a smaller cat they may use their smaller crane. Palarran weighs approximatly 25 tons.

All the horror stories I have read so far about Messolonghi revolve around Yannis, the manager and co-owner. If you can either avoid dealing with him or work around him, it would be better.

I thought I'd post photos of Messolonghi's crane hauling out a cat for anyone interested in the future.
