Handbag Stolen in Almerimar

On Tuesday 5 January at 4pm I was walking along the pavement opposite the Chinese Wok restaurant in Almerimar Marina when a scooter with 2 men on it mounted the pavement and drove straight at me. As they passed they snatched my handbag off my shoulder. I was holding onto the strap and as a result have a fractured finger, 2 very swollen fingers and a badly bruised hand.

Handbag contents included cards, cash, mobile phone, camera {I was on the way to watch the 3 Kings arrive at the Port Tower Control building}, medication including my Epipen etc. Cancelled cards within 1 hour of the theft, now trying to replace documentation - how do I get another photocard for my UK driving licence??

Must say the Hospital Poniente in El Ejido and the Guardia Civil Police were very efficient and sympathetic.

There have recently bee two other handbag snatches and just before Christmas two bicycles (not folding bikes) were stolen from yachties.

Everyone is being extra vigilant!

It is a little late in this case, but I scan all my important documents and email them to myself... on a webmail service (like yahoo or google or hotmail).
I insure that my password is not something easy to decipher (letters, numbers, and special characters) and this allows me to have access to my passport, Drivers License, Insurance, Important account numbers and phone numbers at any web enabled computer.
I also insure that I only access my webmail from a trusted place (and with https for security). It is invaluable in case of lost or stolen documents.

Best.

Sadly, scooter snatches of handbags have been a problem in parts of Spain for many years. They used to warn tourists to beware of that, maybe as long as 20 years back. You were hit by professionals.
