NO -- last year we sailed from Tunisia to Sicily and around to Albania down to Corfu and across to Turkey - we say lots of migrants along the way on various islands and the Greeks are trying to keep them kinda isolated in camps away from populated areas. The only place we saw them on a water front was Kos and the police had great security and no issues and just before we left Kos the police moved them out also.

So not a problem with migrants.

Re: Greek Islands

Refugees are no problem in Greece. Their only wish is go north to Germany et. al. as quickly as possible. If they engaged in any misbehavior, that resulted in the police being called - they would be sent back to Syria/Iraq/Afgan....

Thankyou all. We are now deep in planning and thought. The sailing looks and sounds wonderful. Its been on the bucket list for a long time. I shall let you know how I go. I'll order the book as suggested. It will be valuable. Gotta love people like you all.

Re: Greek Islands

We have kept our boat in the Eastern Med for the past 13 years. Never been asked to show it but ICC is regarded as acceptable proof of competence.
We've sailed mostly in the Dodecanese or Turkish coast as Cyclades can be a little frisky for us in high Summer. JIMB's site is a useful guide and I would agree with most of his opinions of the individual islands

Re: Greek Islands

Have a thought for sporades, really amazing scenery and no migrant issue so far. Skiathos Skopelos Allonisos and the water park.

That's my destination this year

I'm not sure the raw beauty is better than the Cyclades but having some greenery for a year will be nice. I'd kind of guess it's like the Ionian's with better wind.
