Greece to Turkey

Any advice please, it appears that hiring a bareboat charter in Greece either Rhodes or Los is cheaper than in maramis or bodrum. Does anyone have experience with any hassles between Greece and turkey if we want to spend 14 days just boating between the two.

As long as you formally check into Turkey and have also checked into Greece(depka) there will be no problems at all.

.....and as long as you have the time and are willing to spend the fees for it.

re: Greece to Turkey

You need a "transit log" for turkey (Usual thing just lists all your crew and skipper) 150TL The only problem is that you are 'supposed' to clear out each time you go to Greece and then buy a new transit log when you return. (NB. I did say supposed)

If you are starting in Greece then you will have a sailing permit, for Greek waters, and the same routine applies. (remember I said 'supposed')

There is no 'nationalistic' problem between the two countries just remember to have the right courtesy flag up!

We often have the odd night of two on the Greek islands just avoid harbours where the authorities hang out!

Re: Greece to Turkey

Also note that you do not get DEPKA unless you are from UK. Does not apply to NZ citizens nor us Americans. We do different clearance into/from Greece; not DEPKA.
