Free marina in Muxia, Ria de Camarinas, Spain

We are now in Muxia, in the Ria de Camarinas, Spain.
We are the only cruising yacht in the new marina there and have been for the last three days although we can look across the bay and see lots in Camarinas.
It provides good shelter, new pontoons, one of the greenest (almost jade) beaches we have ever seen 3 minutes away and the townfolk are so friendly and helpful. There is just over 3 m of water a low tide. There is however no fresh water to the pontoons although we were told there is electricity but we don't want to try.... Why, well the marina is free!
On chatting with the locals thy say that it is political but the marina is open and they do not charge anything. If we need water they will quiet happily fill containers for us but you can also cross the bay to Camarinas.fill up and come back.
With the bad weather we will be staying a while and besides we love the place. When the weather eases we can further explore the Ria. This weekend there is also a fiesta with free music..
Well worth a visit and the cheapest marina in the world?

Thanks for that info, Nostrodamus. We are about 1 week cruise away from Ria de Camarinas and will definitely pay a visit to Muxia.

We spent a week there.
Lots of room for cats.
Have now gone the 20 mins across the bay to Camarinas for water and to charge the batteries. For us they charge 33 euros a night in Camarinas and the pontoons are very short so we will leave again today and anchor about 100 meters away for nothing. There are currently five boats anchored here and you can pick up the marinas excellent wi fi.
The showers in Camerinas are very good.

Have fun.

When coming round from the north you can go between the Island and land as we did but only do it in good weather. the current strengthens and there are breakers close by. You can anchor off the little Island but are told to wear a helmet as the birds attack.. for some reason we gave it a miss.

Re: Free marina in Muxia, Ria de Camarinas, Spain

It's the 1 July and we have heard all the reports of a free marina in Muxia so we came for a visit.

It's not free anymore! They said they had been open 6 days.

We were charged 26 euros for a night (for 12 metres). We got power but water is only available on request. They have only just opened up the loos and showers (basic portacabin only 1 loo men's and 1 loo ladies) and they are only open certain times of the day when an attendant is here. We went to the shops at 10.15 this morning and still no one had arrived' so still no shower or toilet available. There are no other facilities at all, cash only no cards and no receipt! Which we thought rather odd.

Would have been happy to pay a fee but 26 euros is way over the top for the facilities compared to other marinas on the coast. We would recommend Camerinas across the bay.
