Re: First time charter in Med

Length for length Catamarans are much more expensive than monohulls and that difference reflects itself on the charter cost of the boat.

If you really are interested in having a cat as a boat you really should try a cat and nobody better than Yeloya not only to get you a good price on one or as a person to talk to regarding the type of cat you would be more interesting in owning.

He works or owns a charter business with cats and monohulls and he is a cat enthusiast with a big experience regarding sailing different types of cats and can give you very good advise.

He works out of Turkey that is a nice place to have an easy and relaxed charter so I would say that if you are interested on cats next time you should go to Turkey not Ionian

Hi David, as courtesy to you I couldn't stop posting these two beatiful views from Knidos where the Aegean sea and the Med are meeting..
(right side of my wife is Aegean, left side is the Med)
Next one is Kufre in Gokova bay the view of my Orana that I sold last month..

Cheers

Re: First time charter in Med

Having sailed most of it in our own boat

Ionian - way to many charter boats who have no idea what they are doing and very crowded.

Aegean -- lots of great islands to visit and not to many charters but not as many anchorages as you may wish. But if you are on a short schedule and get caught by a meltemi starts blowing and stays you may not get around a lot of if you do it is a bash.

Croatia - lots of islands and nice folks, good history and places to anchor and enjoy. If in Croatia try EuroMarine in Dubrovnik for charter. They are a Jeanneau dealer and we had them do some work with us on a couple of issues we had and we watched as they took care of their fleet and we were impressed with way they maintained them.

Turkey - we only sailed a bit so far - but anchorages everywhere, great protection from the meltemi and the blows are nothing compared to parts of the Aegean.

Montenego - to small - a few days and you have seen it all.

good luck
