Extending Greek Residency

We (Lorraine & Brian) are Australian liveaboards on a Lagoon 400 S2 and are currently in Sicily at Marina di Ragusa. In a few weeks we will be heading west to Greece. First stop in Greece will probably be in Corfu.

We currently have a Greek Residency Permit but this expires in July 2016. We would like to extend our Greek Residency Permit. I have read some stuff about this on the web and particularly:

I am seeking information or opinions from people that have recently done this and particularly information that is not on the web:

Is it better to go to a large city or a small town to complete the application for the extension?
How long did the process take?
Are there any issues about giving an address of a boat in a marina?

Need to be careful on the islands mate..
You might get shipped to Turkey and deported to Oz....
