Europe & the Mediterranean

Since this site is in English, you might want to correct its spelling.

Did you mean: Mediterranean Sea

Thanks, Traveller. Fix on the way.

By the way, my spell checker choked on your user name. Should it be Traveler?

There are two ways of spelling it, depending on where on this planet you're on. Hey, nobody (at least I never will) ever accused the English language of being logical. Pronounce "read" and you only get one chance; one of countless examples.

Best ask the french, they still refer to the English Channel as something 'Francaise de Mer'? is it?
ps Brits only own some of the Med.

I believe that the French refer to the English Channel* as La Manche, meaning "the sleeve".
The British, and some Canadians generally use the double “L” in traveller.

* Everybody uses the double "N" in channel. Thanks to David_Old_Jersey for the SP correction .

I always thought it meant "Channel".

Down here we are "Les Isles de la Manche" aka the Channel Islands.

I never make stupid mistakes; only very, very clever ones.

As Arthur Schopenhauer said: “With people of only moderate ability, modesty is mere honesty; but with those who possess great talent, it is hypocrisy.”

Accordingly, and disdaining hypocrisy, I have to admit that I’m no more humble than my talents require.

“In politics... never retreat, never retract... never admit a mistake.” ~ Napoleon Bonaparte

Accordingly, I didn’t misspell channel, I was just trying to simplify the language.
