dry storage for 8.2mt wide cat in greece needed.

Hi guys, we are chasing dry storage for the winter season in Greece. Messolonghi unable to take boats this season due to legal battles, Ionioan lift too small, awaiting reply from Cleopatra. Any others that might have room and can lift a cat that is 17.2 x 8.2 mts.

ATKIO Marina is next to Cleopatra in Preveza, and a lot cheaper.

They have a 100 tonne lift "Travel Lift (ASCOM) 100 ton of usable width slippery 8.5m."

I have a winter booking there for my Lagoon 450.

Re: dry storage for 8.2mt wide cat in greece needed.

I've spent way to much time looking for marina's in Greece to lift our boats. This year was my 7th haul out since the purchase survey and was by far the best. Olympic Marina - They have cat haul out's down to a science. Really, after watching them, it isn't rocket science, it's simple. The way they blocked the boat was perfect and their travel lift is very nice and wide.

Karen, at some point you might find that the extra 1000 euro some yards charge is really worth it. I did this year.

As for repair work, if you need any, I was very happy with what they did on Palarran and the price they charged. As an example, 1800 euro to polish and wax from the toe rail to water line on the outside and inside of the hulls, less the bridge deck. It looked great. They also repaired quite a bit of gel coat for a reasonable number.

It's super simple to get there from Athens International.

Re: dry storage for 8.2mt wide cat in greece needed.

I had lifting chainplates installed on my Privilege 39 in the factory so that the boat could be lifted out without a travel lift. A crane can do the job without a problem by hooking up to the lifting chainplates.

I was lifted three times in New Zealand by my lifting chainplates. It's a good option for hauling out in places that don't have travel lifts.

Dave, Marqueses weights more than twice yr boat and installing chain plates in 4 corners for lifting 20-25 tons is not a good idea IMO.
That would definately add more option for hauling the boat but is it worth the extra money and weight / strains you add on this size of boat ??

Cheers

The A1 Shipyard is Rhodes can haul you out without a problem, their travelift can accommodate boats up to 11.5m wide.

Our 7.8 m wide Outremer we have more than once taken out using a regular road crane. No chain plates needed.
