Dingy Access in the Med

In the USA, we can usually find marinas at reasonable rates but when we have to anchor out and dingy in, the expensive marinas often allow you to tie the dingy up for the day at a much more modest fee.

In tropical locations, it's often just hanging out on the beach, so you pull the dingy up on the sand and hang out close enough to keep an eye on it.

In the Med, you hear horror stories about marina costs, so how does dingy access work (obviously it may vary by area). One of the goals in going there is to see the sites, so just pulling it up onto the beach and walking into the city doesn't sound appealing if we expect it to be there when we return.

Do the marinas offer dingy access? If so, what would you expect to pay?

Do they have tenders that will pick you up at anchor (anapolis, boot key harbor and a few other places we've been do this)?

We'll in the Cyclades and most of the other Greek Islands you will not be charged for tying up your dinghy as a vast majority of the island marinas are council run so go ahead drop the hook and dingy in

In Croatia we have left the dinghy unlocked in many places and it has never been touched. A good guide is that nobody seems to lock dinghy or outboard to the boat here. Have never tried leaving dinghy in a marina but do so on town quays and villages frequently. It is accepted to anchor close to a town and dinghy in. Exceptions are places like Dubrovnik and Split where you will have trouble anchoring close enough and quays or marinas are hideously expensive. What we do in such cases is to find a little town quay nearby on the coastal road and catch a bus which are cheap and frequent or a nearby island and use a ferry which again are cheap.
Note that some anchorages may have a concessionaire who is entitled to charge.

We have cruised Greece extensively over the last five years and have never paid to tie up our dinghy. We always anchor out and dinghy in to the local harbour/town quay. We have a small anchor on a length of bungee that we drop off the stern of the dinghy as we motor to the quay and tie up. The bungee ensures that the dinghy doesn't rub against the quay should the wind direction change, it improves security and means that it is less likely to be in anyone else's way.
