Cruising the Western Med
Hi.
Is there anyone cruising the western med this summer?
We live aboard our 12 ton 36 foot Hillyard built in 1956 and will be in the med for the summer with our 2 boys aged 8 and 7 and thought it would be great to meet up with other cruisers with kids.
Fair winds to you all.
Dave and Amanda.

Sadly not - see the broken hearted thread! But where are you going? See our blog for our experiences so far.

Re: cruising the western med
Don't have any kids but do have a 'Harvey' which i'm sure they'd love!
I'm currently in Gibraltar and will be heading East up the Spanish cost heading for the Balarics, setting off in the next few days. There's always a beer or glass of wine on board for a fellow CF member.

Re: Cruising the Western Med
Well.... I'm on something a little larger without sails, but we're presently in Spain, and moving upto Malaga next week. The weather is favourable at the moment.
Happy sailing.

Re: Cruising the Western Med
Pleased to report that I have since met up with Dave and his family in Almerimar and since seen them in Mar Manor after spending a night at anchor there, nice people with an interesting boat. Was great to meet another CF member and hope to meet many more this summer while cruising.
Terra, hope to be in the Balerics by this weekend, stopping off at Ibiza first and then hope to be heading the same way as you later on, let me know if you'd like to rendevous, always a warm welcome on board for CF members, the same goes to anyone else.

Re: Cruising the Western Med
We are currently in South Sardinia- and will be working our way over to Sicily in due course. Would be fun to meet any CF members in the area! Terra - sounds like you are on a similar itinerary?

Re: Cruising the Western Med
hello everybody
We are cruising The East coast of Spain To Southern France and then heading back south to Almeria.
will probably go back via the Balearics. It would be good to hook up with some C.F.
folk along the way.
Fair winds to you all.

Must have been hard work, i'm currently stuck in Ibiza with constant Easterly winds, stopping me from heading that way or even over to Mallorca.

We caught a nice weather window - two days of south - SE sector winds - that got us from Menorca to Corsica. Was a bit windy, but otherwise it was a wait for several more days. Then, as soon as we got to Corsica, the next day the wind switched to NW, so we had scarper across to the East side (Rodonda bay), which is when we had our 44kt gusts.
After that we went up the E side while the wind was NW, then round the top and down the W side in calms, and then another quick dash to the E when the NW came in again. We passed Bonifacio twice in a blow before we actually got to visit it :-)
If you are in Ibiza (which we found boring) make sure you don't miss the NW coast of Mallorca (but you need calm weather). It is spectacular. North West Mallorca
