Cheap Marina for wintering in Croatia??

Hey everyone,

It can be such a minefield and take such a long time trying to sift through information online about marinas, and of course we left our pilot guides onboard when we came back to New Zealand! Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about a good marina in Croatia that isn't too expensive, ideally on the hard, that we could leave our catamaran for winter? We don't mind which area as we've got a bit of time to cruise around. Otherwise Italy on the eastern coast could work - or possibly even Malta. Any information is much appreciated!

Croatia is still unknown to me, I'm heading for it coming May. I'm now wintering in Sicily - SE in Marina di Ragusa, in the water. On the hard it is expensive. In the water it is the best in the area. Safe, good water environment. Temperatures min 5 C night / max 15 C in January

Thanks everyone for your help, I've emailed around 20 marinas so far, with either Umag, Cres, or Izola in Slovenia looking like the best options...most either don't reply or are too expensive...

Greece is an excellent option for cheaper wintering onshore. Try the boat yards around Preveza.

If you are a distant boat owner and you only fly in once a year to use your boat for a long season, then I think it is best to stay put in your current marina if it is priced well and you are generally happy with it, especially if you already have already found people to work on your boat whilst you are away and you are satisfied with them.

In that situation I would only move if you are making a big move in your cruising grounds.
